Our partner in Madagascar sent us this picture showing the difficulty they had in reaching one of their projects. Madagascar is very mountainous and the rains make some of the roads quite treacherous.
With rolling green hills, sparkling blue rivers and endless rice patties, Madagascar, an island nation nestled off the east coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean, is steeped in exquisite beauty. However, one doesn’t have to look past God’s creative masterpiece very far, to see the desperate poverty. The people barely survive and never actually thrive. For ICM, Madagascar is a new African nation for our team to minister in. Our Partner here has established 268 congregations throughout the country. All in rural villages and all without adequate houses of worship. The first two church buildings of the partnership are nearly complete and I visited them this week (Thursday 4.7 and Friday 4.8.11). At one church, after inspecting the impressive construction work, I was invited to speak to the crowd that had gathered. It seemed the entire village had assembled. I spoke of the grace of God and salvation through His Son Jesus Christ, then I invited the people to receive Christ by faith. Over 100 responded, including many children. I was able to re-introduce the pastor and encourage the new believers to grow in the Lord under his leadership in the newly constructed church which was made possible by generous ICM Donors! When we say that God is using ICM to transform lives, what happened in this rural village in Madagascar Thursday night (4.7.11) is what we’re talking about. It continues to amaze all of us on the ICM Team how God uses a bricks and mortar building to bring the lost to Himself, making them part of His forever family! Please pray for our new partnership in Madagascar as we seek to build all 268 of their churches over time and transform lives throughout this country! And please pray for the 100 souls who gave their lives to Christ this past week in beautiful Madagascar!
